Five-Day Perfume Intensive

It's that time of year again when we all get together and play with our perfume-making stuff. It's only June 6th and I've already had the first person sign up for the August workshop. He's from Ontario. Come play with us.

"Pyramid of Olfactory Pleasure"
Natural Perfumery Course
"The Art of Perfumery may be older than the pyramids, however there are always new things to be discovered."

August 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10th, 2012
9:30 am - 5 pm each day
30 hours of training

Pre-requisite: This course would best suit someone with a firm foundation in Natural Perfumery.

Join us for a week of fun and camaraderie during this hands-on experiential event
This course expands on some of the concepts presented in the Coeur d'Esprit Natural Perfume Course (which covers the basics of perfume creation: how to formulate, creating accords, and tinctures; formulation for different bases; note classification; perfumery terms; scent families, methods of extraction; shelf-life and storage; scent profiling; working in a safe atelier; working with the spiritual essence of the plants, creating a Scent Song; creating a Spiritual Perfume; where to purchase supplies; and much more. ), I'm currently teaching through correspondence, as well as offers several new topics to explore and a new base of information from which to create.

Each day we will begin the creation of one perfume from five fragrance families (it will need to mature under your nurture for several months before you can use it): Chypre, Citrus, Fougere, Floral, and Oriental.

We will explore deviations into compositions featuring Woodsy, Herbaceous, Leathery, Soliflore, and Gourmand/Fruity.

We will be working solely with Perfumers’ Alcohol making Pure Perfume Extraits only. Formulae can be re-created for use in oil, crème, and glace. I will include a demonstration on how to do each of these three, just for fun. If it's summertime, we may do some distilling outside, too.

Some of our topics, lectures, and experiments include:

o Creating various kinds of pre-fixed and softened alcohol for specific Perfume Families
o Exotic Accords from my personal work – leather, hyacinth, violet, oceanic, amber, and others
o Working with the Natural Perfume Pyramid - please come with a list of all the perfume components in your organ.
o Working with the sticky bits
o Advanced sniffing and evaluation techniques
o Aging perfumes and tinctures ultrasonically
o How to do a Perfume Consultation
o Sharing and smelling Natural Isolates
o Scent profiling the various formulae, alcohols, accords, and tinctures. Comparing the fresh version to the matured one.
o Comparing the various Roses, Jasmines, Petitgrains, Lotus, Lavenders, Sandalwoods, Vetivers and so on between types and suppliers.
o Sniffing real hyraceum, real musk, and real ambergris.
o Creating our own scent/colour wheel
o and many other topics

You will also have the opportunity to experience many of the rarest perfume components in use today. ie: Hyacinth, Narcissus, Ambergris, and Ambrette Seed and many others; all in 20% dilution ready to smell.

Workshop includes all products used in class, supplies, a detailed manual, and a Certificate of Completion during the Graduation Ceremony & Celebration on Friday evening after our cold buffet meal (spouses and significant others are welcome).

Due to the size of my teaching room, this event is open to the first eight people who Register and make their deposit. Financial Investment is: $975.00 and the deposit is $300.00, $150.00 of which is non-refundable. Balance of $675.00 is due three weeks prior to workshop.
